Thoughts on how your competitive experience as a Patriot League student-athlete helped you achieve professional or personal goals:
Sports have been the center of my life for as long as I can remember. The competitive edge given to me from participating in sports has allowed me to succeed in my career thus far. College athletics drives that edge to a new height. The last game I pitched was against Clemson at Clemson for a chance to go to the College World Series. Sports have challenged me to deal with situations that look impossible. Baseball has developed my character. My coach would always say, "Character is what you do when no one is looking." College baseball taught me that the desire to win does not start on the field, but off the field in preparation for the big game. You can never prepare too much off the field for the big game we call life. Trying to win a game in the bottom of the ninth developed a mentality in me that has allowed me to relax during stressful situations and think clearly to come up with a good solution. Sometimes you have more time to think. Sometimes a delay in thinking can cause a loss of a life in what I do. Baseball taught me to think clearly no matter what the situation.
