EASTON, Pa. -
Lafayette swimming and diving head coach Jim Dailey has announced the commitment of 14 incoming student-athletes that are set to join the Leopards in the fall. Five women and nine men will join the team as members of the class of 2012.
Dailey his high anticipation and expectations for the incoming group.
"I'm very excited about the high school academic and athletic performances of our incoming first-year class," Dailey said. "All of them have proven themselves in the academic and athletic realms. There are several which can score at Patriot League Championships with their present high school and club times. I look forward to starting our 2008-09 season with them and believe all of them will make a major impact immediately."
The women will be looking to fill the void of a nine successful seniors who graduated as part of the class of 2008. Dailey is set to welcome two divers to the 2008-09 roster in Imogen Cain (Perkasie, Pa./Germantown Academy) and Candice Prager (Salisbury Mills, N.Y./Washingtonville) join the program. Also arriving to College Hill in the fall will be backstroker Alexandria Brannick (Point Pleasant, N.J./Point Pleasant), middle distance freestyler Alexa Salcito (Cranford, N.J./Mount St. Mary's Academy) and sprint freestyler Maggie Deiseroth (Pittsburgh, Pa./Fox Chapel).
The men's squad welcomes a large class of nine members to the 2008-09 team. A trio of local products headline an incoming class in Michael Black (Easton, Pa./Easton), Cory Schutz (Pottstown, Pa./Owen J. Roberts), and distance freestyler/flyer Stephen McCormick (Lancaster, Pa./Penn Manor). All three had successful high school careers that culminated with impressive showings at the Pennsylvania State Championships.
The Leopards will also welcome a tandem from the Philadelphia region in sprinter J.J. Houldin (Philadelphia, Pa./LaSalle College H.S.) and breastroker Matt Carpinello (Media, Pa./Episcopal Academy). Dailey also has high aspirations for two incoming Massachusetts products in breastroker/sprint freestylers Christopher Slodden (Sudbury, Mass./Phillips Exeter) and Kevin Thompson (Framingham, Mass./Framingham). Also joining the team with a lot of potential are Thomas Lombardo (Ridgefield, Conn./Ridgefield), breastroker Jonathan Segars (Potomac, Md./Winston Churchill).
