American senior Brendan Fennell and Colgate freshman Stacey Marion have been named ECAC Cross Country Runners of the Week for the week of 10.30.07. The awards come after a weekend in which each of the 31 Division I conferences held their championship meets. The recognition comes after both Fennell and Marion won individual titles at last weekend's Patriot League Championship.
Fennell, who was also the 2006 Patriot League Champion, defended his title in runaway fashion Saturday morning at Lafayette's Metzgar Field course. The senior finished over 21 seconds ahead of the second-place finisher in a time of 25:00.0. His first place finish helped American win their sixth consecutive team title as well.
Marion emerged onto the scene early in the fall, winning four Patriot League weekly awards throughout the course of the season. The freshman didn't disappoint in her championship debut, winning the 6k women's race in a time of 20:53.70, which was over 18 seconds ahead of second place.
