Andrew Carlins (Lake Bluff, Ill./Lake Forest Academy) led five golfers named to the Patriot League Academic Honor Roll. Carlins was one of three freshmen in the conference to receive the honor, posting a 4.0 grade-point average (GPA) in Economics & Business.
Pat Kelly (Rochester, N.Y./Rush-Henrietta) and Brandon Mitchel (Port Jefferson, N.Y./Earl L. Vandermeulen), graduates of the 2008 class, were both named to the conference honor roll for the third time in their careers. Kelly recorded a 3.66 GPA in Chemical Engineering while Mitchel had a 3.85 GPA in Government & Law.
Steve Melnic (Allentown, Pa./Emmaus) recorded a 3.50 GPA in the spring semester while pursuing a degree in Biology. Reed Valutas (Newtown Square, Pa./Episcopal Academy) was the final Lafayette golfer named to the honor roll with a 3.85 GPA in Economics & Business. Melnic and Valutas both receive this academic distinction for the second-straight season.
A student-athlete must earn a 3.20 GPA in the spring semester and be awarded a varsity letter in one of the conference's championship sports in order to be eligible for the honor roll. The criteria for varsity letters vary by team and Patriot League institution.
